Colored inks

My favorite colored inks are by Pelikan. They're getting harder to find but are extremely lightfast and beautiful. Stay away from Dr. Martins however. They fade way too fast.

Hello Ms. R,

I highly recommend Sumi Ink. I find it to be highly consistent. I don't know if it fits your criteria, but I dig it.

Wow- this is the most interesting LJ post I've ever seen :)

The only thing I missed was- though you mentioned the one I use for line work (Higgins Black Magic) you used a different version of the one I use thinned out for ink washes. Now I'm very curious whether the Higgins NON-waterproof India Ink is a lot different from the waterproof version...

What I find about it is that it's incredibly unforgiving and tricky compared to actual watercolors (which can be lifted) but I always assumed that was intrinsic to ink wash...

I'm a cartoonist in houston, and I'm having a real problem getting my ink to scan well. After reading through your extremely well-prepared review, I much better understand what the problems are.

Hope Texas Art Supply is open tomorrow on the holiday, cause I need an update.

Thanks for doing this – I’ve never given so much thought to the ink I use (a mistake I won’t be making again)! Turns out that according to your reviews, the last ink I bought is actually the perfect one for my needs. Three cheers for dumb luck… x)
