OR are you looking for general career advice and feedback in the kidlit graphic novel publishing field?

I work with artists, author-illustrators, and writers on beginning, creating, and finishing their kidlit graphic novel projects. As somebody who has both written and illustrated multiple graphic novels, I understand the unique position that writers and illustrators face when approaching this difficult and often daunting format.

With over seventeen-plus years of experience in kidlit comics and illustration as well as publishing in general, I bring a wealth of knowledge to artists and writers who are often already well-grounded in their fields but need help transitioning and adapting to this unique format. Writing for comics requires THINKING VISUALLY. Drawing for comics requires THINKING SEQUENTIALLY. Both require an understanding of the format’s limitations as well as its potential. I can help writers and illustrators think about how to approach their work in a way that fits this format’s challenges and demands.

My rates are $150 for an initial 1.5 hour consultation in which we discuss your project(s) or problem(s) and go over feedback. My follow-up editorial rates are $45/hour afterwards. Consultations and feedback can be conducted via telephone, zoom, or email, or a mix of all three.

My editorial style focuses on content and approach as well as narrative and visual technique, but all feedback is tailored to your specific needs.

If you are interested in working with me, shoot me an email letting me know a bit about you who are, where you are in your career, and the project you are working on. It doesn’t need to be formal! I am happy to help!!!
